My Thoughts:
This is the second book in the series and follows the Brothers Finn as they hide from both The Roamers and other supernaturals. The brothers are now dealing with some hard truths and strike out on their own to save others. This leads them to enroll in a college, reaching out to old friends and making new ones.
The showdown from the end of the previous book leads to new enemies and old truths in this new book. We meet a lot of new characters, and the brothers once again face new challenges as they race against the clock to save humans and supernaturals alike.
This book is fast-paced and to the point, a quick read that will ensure the reader is hooked until the very end. This book once again ends on a cliff hanger, setting the context for the next book which I am most definitely looking forward to reading!

My Thoughts:
As author Stuart Meczes rightly mentioned in his note at the start of this book, the story gets deeper and darker as it progresses. The Veil is the third book in the series and follows the events of the second book, leading the reader right into the story. In this book, we get to see different sides of each character and how they have changed over the course of the journey so far.
The author has done a wonderful job in describing Pandemonia and bringing it to life. This is a whole different world that our main characters now have to navigate. The author’s writing keeps getting better with each book and so does the suspense. This book will draw the reader in faster than the other two and is definitely unputdownable. I read it at a stretch over a few days, always feeling the need to read just one more page to know what happens next and this ended up in turning the pages until the very end.
In this book, we are rewarded with more insights into some of the Guardians and the bonds that they all share. It stems from shared experiences, love and a sense of belonging. I quite enjoyed the different points of view and even the way the story is told from Scarlet’s point of view once the Guardians are forced to split up. The first person point of view helps to understand the characters more and relate to them as they find their way through Pandemonia and all the pandemonium around!
A truly wonderful book in the series, The Veil sets the tone for the rest of the book and I cannot wait to know what happens next. The ending is once again a cliff-hanger leaving the reader wanting for more and thus ensuring that we pick up the next book in the series! Fans of fantasy fiction with supernatural elements, magic and adventure will love this series!

My Thoughts:
The Final Gambit is the final book in the Inheritance Games trilogy. I devoured this series, reading each book successively and when the third released, I was sure that I had to read it. In short, I absolutely loved the premise of the series, the characters and the entire plot.
This book picks up right where the second one ended. Avery is on the verge of inheriting a fortune and she still has a few more weeks of living with the Hawthorne brothers left. I love how the characters have grown over the books and the sense of belonging Avery feels among the brothers. Their acceptance of her and the bonds they share with her are also wonderful to read about and to be honest, it did not happen instantly. In this book, the author throws us a curve ball, because why not? 😀
There are a few new characters introduced and a plot twist that the readers just don’t see coming. It is definitely not that easy for Avery and it has not been since day 1. However, a lot of secrets come to light and many questions are clarified in this amazing conclusion to this series! The book draws you in just like the previous ones and it is UNPUTDOWNABLE!
It is worth the time spent reading and trust me, you will love getting to know the characters whether they are good, bad or fall into the grey area. It just doesn’t matter as they all play an important role in driving the plot forward as well as shaping each other. To understand one is to understand all of them! I highly recommend this series to everyone!
My Thoughts:
I am a huge huge huge fan of Shatrujeet Nath’s books and writing. Having read all his books based on Indian Mythology, I knew I had to read this book which was the first book he had written. A huge thank you to the Writersmelon team as well for providing a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.
The Karachi Deception is an international espionage thriller filled with mystery and intrigue and a plot that is full of twists and turns. I loved reading this book and was hooked right from the beginning. In short, the story follows three commandos as they enter Pakistan to eliminate one of the most dreaded underworld dons. As they navigate their way, follow the plan established, they seem to meet roadblocks at every stage. With secrets being kept among the superiors, no clarity on whom to trust and too many parties in play, the reader is in for a roller coaster ride.
The story is fast paced and the characters are well thought out. I really appreciate how the author has handled all the various characters, there are so many of them and each one has an important role to play whether it is big or small. Every one of the characters contributes something which makes the plot stronger and the storyline believable. As our main protagonists set out to do the impossible task set out in front of them, we are giving a glimpse into the minds of the characters and how each one thinks. The reasons behind the decisions taken and how every web of lies has some ounce of truth in it is intriguing.
Overall I loved this book and am happy that my first read of 2023 was a 5 star read! I highly recommend this book to all!

My Thoughts:
Double Pursuit is a fast-paced action thriller that will have the reader on the edge of their seat at all times. This is the second book in the series and the story follows Mélisende as she embarks on an investigation into missing firearms. The book dives right into the plot from page 1 and only becomes more intriguing as the plot thickens.
Having read Book 1, I already had a fair idea about some of the characters in this book. There are references to the past events, but this book can easily be read as a standalone too. You just have to be a little persistent. The characters are well developed and believable. I thoroughly enjoyed reading about each of their respective dynamics and how they worked together. Mel is definitely the highlight of the books and deservedly so. She is tough, independent and very good at what she does, but also soft at heart and caring towards those who matter.
The author has written the book so well, it is very easy to visualize each scene and it plays out like a movie in your mind. It is clear that she has done a great amount of research and also relied on her own experiences to write these books. The amount of details and the insight into procedures whether police or otherwise are explained in a way that everyone can understand it.
All in all I highly recommend this book and the series as such. They are definitely worth reading!

My Thoughts:
Running from the Pack is an urban fantasy fiction story set in the time where werewolves live among humans (in secret) and still thrive. The protagonist is new to the city and only wants to have fun. Little does she know how her life is going to change with just one bite. The story follows her as she discovers and navigates life as a new werewolf and establishes new relationships with people.
I found the writing to be average and the characters pretty one dimensional. I was not able to fully relate to them and the plot. However, I think that the author had a good idea and it could have been executed much better. The tensions between packs and the bonds of friendship that develop are something to note in the book.
Overall I think that this is a one time read for fans of the paranormal fantasy fiction genre. I think that it was not my cup of tea but I am sure it would still be worth reading for many readers out there!

About the Author:
Michelle Kidd is a self-published author best known for the Detective Inspector Jack MacIntosh series of novels set in London. She has also recently begun a new series which is set in her home town of Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk – starring Detective Inspector Nicki Hardcastle. Michelle qualified as a lawyer in the early 1990s and spent the best part of ten years practising civil and criminal litigation. But the dream to write books was never far from her mind and in 2008 she began writing the manuscript that would become the first DI Jack MacIntosh novel – The Phoenix Project. The book took eighteen months to write, but spent the next eight years gathering dust underneath the bed. In 2018 Michelle self-published The Phoenix Project and has not looked back since. My Thoughts:
It’s my stop on the Book Tour for Guilt by Michelle Kidd today! I was interested in the book when I read the blurb, but was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it after reading it.
The book follows DI Nicki Hardcastle as she focuses on finding a six year old boy who disappears from the local fair. This comes right after the bodies of two other children are discovered. As Nicki and her team work to uncover the truth and find the boy, she is forced to confront her own past and deal with a nightmare from more than twenty years ago.
The book is well-written, gripping and fast-paced. Racing against the clock, the readers are plunged head first into a novel that will have you on the edge of your seat. What will happen to the boy? Can they find him in time? Who would do such a thing? These are all the questions that arise as the plot progresses.
Author Michelle Kidd has done a brilliant job in writing this story, making it easy for the reader to follow and imagine every sequence of events. The book reads more like a movie or an episode in a TV series, but gives us allowances to visualize it as we please. The reality of the situation is not lost on us and in truth, this can happen to anyone. The author brings out the psyche or state of mind of each character thus giving us some insight into who they are and what shaped them. These are complex characters with traumatic pasts leading to some walking the path of good and some bad. However, there is no right or wrong, it comes down to what a person knows, perhaps they do not know better.
The reader comes away with the satisfaction of a brilliant ending and a justification of the title of the book. We also come away with questions in the mind that make a person pause to think about people around us. I am now a huge fan of the author’s writing and am looking forward to reading more of her books!
