About the Book:

As a Demon-Owned human, in an Afterworld that literally has Hell and Heaven on Earth, I’m the lowest a being can be. My life is one of drudgery, degradation—and mortal danger. And that’s before I started dealing Angelescence. Unlike anything in existence, it’s a drug only I can produce, and everyone would kill for.
With decommission and execution closing in, I’m desperate to buy out my and my best friend’s Indentures. But upping my operations only gets me arrested, and my terrifying captor drags me to the Celestial Court—on a leash—to stand trial. My sentence?
Conscription to Celestial Academy.
As the most powerful nephilim in history, Godric is Heaven’s most ruthless soldier and assassin. And he’s been assigned with discovering the root of my unprecedented ability to capture Angel Essence.
We both hate our forced proximity—and each other. Especially since we’re seething with explosive emotions and cravings that neither of us ever thought to experience, and can’t possibly afford. Anything between us isn’t only forbidden, it’s disastrous. Potentially for all of existence.
But being embroiled in our passionate war becomes the least of our worries as he unearths even more terrible mysteries within me. Meanwhile, lethal trials loom at mid-term, and a devastating internal war as well as another Apocalypse are brewing…
…and I’m at the center of it all.

Wen’s epic trials in the world of Celestials and Supernaturals continue in NULL, book 2 in the AFTERWORLD series.
My Thoughts:
I received a copy of this book from NetGalley and here is my honest review.
I love reading fantasy fiction and the premise of this book drew me in. I liked the idea of supernaturals, angels, demons, magic all put together. The book started rather abruptly and it took me some time to understand what was happening. The setting of the book is a dystopian world that could do with a little more description, especially how this world came to be and the hierarchy of the people (both supernatural and human).
I did not easily connect with Wen, though I like that she was looking out for Sarah, her best friend and the one she considered family. I was not a huge fan of her snark nor did I enjoy reading about Godric as much as I would have liked. However, Lorcan, Jinny and some of the others more than made up for this.
The story did pick up about one-third in and started to get more interesting. This helped to read on and soon things started to make sense. Even though I was not a huge fan of Wen, I was interested in her story and origins. I wanted to know what would happen and the ending was a twist I didn’t see coming. I am looking forward to the next book in the series, NULL, and I hope that I get more answers to the background and characters.
About the Book:

Divided by Oceans but Eternally Bonded
Morgan Pendragon has another name now: Morgan Le Fay. As her true heritage slowly emerges from the mists of the past, Morgan renounces one possible future as the new ruler of the fierce Siabra fae and the wife of the Prince of Claws and vanishes through a portal–returning to Camelot and the Rose Court where her friends and younger brother lie in mortal peril from Arthur’s cruel wiles.
But back in the Court of Claws, Kairos Draven won’t allow his beloved to disappear from his life so easily. His bond with Morgan goes beyond blood, love, life, and even time itself and neither one of them can relinquish its power or its pull.
Yet Morgan is no ordinary woman. Not only is she beginning to manifest remarkable abilities, but the powers of the gods themselves run through her veins, bestowing her with an unimaginable power and an unthinkable claim over all of Aercanum and beyond…
A claim which some will stop at nothing to put a halt to.
My Thoughts:
This series had me hooked, rendering me wholly unable to stop reading.
Empress of Fae is the third installment in the Blood of a Fae series and this book really kicked up several notches in the heart hammering department. We follow Morgan as she rushes to save one brother and confront the other. Faced with the decision to claim her right as the Queen of the Siabra kingdom, Morgan flees, showing her need to be there for people but not to rule them.
She leaves Draven behind as she returns to Camelot, trying to find ways to get back into Arthur’s good graces, long enough to defeat him. She finds unexpected friends and allies among the people as well as a number of foes. As Draven, determined as ever, struggles to find his way to her, with a number of his trusted people who also now believe in Morgan, the reader is in for a bumpy ride.
The author packs no punches and ensures that the reader is pulled right into the middle of the story, perhaps even imagining themselves to be one among the characters as the events unfold. This book is much more heart-breaking and fast paced, with a lot of things happening all at once, thus setting the stage for the grand finale in the next book!
Once again, I must reiterate that I loved this series and each book in the series as well as each character. They are dear to me and I cannot imagine not having met them through these books!
About the Book:

Sitara Singhal has a new dream. When a backfiring spell turns her into an accidental psychic, she realizes that communicating with spirits is her calling. After her last success at solving a murder with the help of a ghostly gang of misfits, she tries to set up a paranormal detective agency, where she solves crimes with the help of the spirit world. The only fly in the ointment is the very bossy DI Richard Collins, who thinks she should stay out of all things murder and mayhem, and stick to making coffee. Will Sitara succeed? To find out, read Death In The Offing, the second book in The Accidental Psychic series.
My Thoughts:
Death in the Offing is the second book in The Accidental Psychic series. I quite enjoyed the first book and thus decided to try out the second.
The book is a quick read, following Sitara and her band of ghostly misfits as they try to help uncover the mystery behind the death of a young teenage girl. Sitara and her friends are also working to set up a paranormal detective agency through which she can try to help ghosts find their truth and find peace. However, it is not as simple as it seems.
This book has the vibes of Meg Cabot’s The Mediator series, and I absolutely loved reading it. The characters are fun and quirky, and of course, we cannot forget Sitara’s equation with DI Richard Collins. Sparks are flying, a killer is on the loose, a teenage ghost is haunting her step-mother and Sitara is just getting started and finding her groove!
Though short, this book was worth the read and I am definitely looking forward to reading about more of Sitara’s adventures as she takes her detective agency forward!
About the Book:

A dangerous alliance between a Vampyre bride and an Alpha Werewolf becomes a love deep enough to sink your teeth into in this new paranormal romance.
Misery Lark, the only daughter of the most powerful Vampyre councilman of the Southwest, is an outcast—again. Her days of living in anonymity among the Humans are over: she has been called upon to uphold a historic peacekeeping alliance between the Vampyres and their mortal enemies, the Weres, and she sees little choice but to surrender herself in the exchange—again…
Weres are ruthless and unpredictable, and their Alpha, Lowe Moreland, is no exception. He rules his pack with absolute authority, but not without justice. And, unlike the Vampyre Council, not without feeling. It’s clear from the way he tracks Misery’s every movement that he doesn’t trust her. If only he knew how right he was….
Because Misery has her own reasons to agree to this marriage of convenience, reasons that have nothing to do with politics or alliances, and everything to do with the only thing she’s ever cared about. And she is willing to do whatever it takes to get back what’s hers, even if it means a life alone in Were territory…alone with the wolf.
My Thoughts:
I read this book as a part of the #obsessedbuddyreads Book of the Month for March.
I have read some of Ali Hazelwood’s books and have generally enjoyed them. This book was a welcome surprise in terms of the genre and style of writing. Though this is a romance novel, bringing in Vampyres and Werewolves as well as elements of conflict, corruption, sinister plots makes this a very interesting read.
The author has created characters here who are very different from her usual ones. Having stepped out of the usual, the result is indeed worth reading. The reader steps right into a world where Vampyres, Werewolves and Humans co-exist dealing with treaties and agreements to keep the peace. With Werewolves and Vampyres on the verge of war, what happens when a Vampyre Bride marries the Werewolve’s Alpha? This forms the main thread of the plot that unravels slowly as the story progresses.
I loved reading about Misery Lark and her strong personality, her interactions and decisions as well as her determination. It is inevitable that readers will also fall in love with Lowe Moreland and the connection that he has with Misery. Once the barriers of misunderstanding fall away and they all realize that their goals are aligned, an unexpected truce is formed which paves the way for the rest of this story.
I read this book in almost one sitting, devouring each page until the very end. The author seems to have experimented a little more with her style of writing in this book and it truly brings the reader closer to the characters and the world that she has created. This paranormal romance is truly worth the read and I recommend it to all those who enjoy the mix of genres!
About the Book:

When a bewitching spell goes wrong…
Almost thirty, almost divorced, and about to sell her last pair of Jimmy Choos to make rent, Sitara Singhal thinks she has hit rock bottom. And then she finds out her mother is coming to visit her in London. Which would have been lovely, except that her overbearing mother doesn’t know she’s getting divorced and Sitara would like to keep it that way until she’s ready to tell her.
When her estranged husband, Blake, refuses to pretend they are still married, Sitara’s best friend convinces her to cast a spell on him. But, can someone who doesn’t believe in mumbo jumbo perform actual magic with a spell found in a spell book of questionable origin? As it turns out, she can. With disastrous results!
When the spell backfires and accidentally turns her psychic, Sitara sees her first ghost, and it is the last person she’d ever want to see – Blake’s awful girlfriend, Shazia, who has just been killed. To make things worse, Sitara is the prime suspect in the murder.
Now, she’s stuck with a vindictive ghost, a grieving ex, and the very bossy DI Richard Collins who is investigating the murder. Can Sitara find the real killer and prove her innocence?
To find out, read Death on the Doorstep , the first book in The Accidental Psychic series.
It is a funny, paranormal cozy mystery set in London.
My Thoughts:
Death on the Doorstep is a hilarious and quick read! Sitara accidentally finds out that she can see and talk to ghosts and this turns her world upside down. She is dealing with a divorce that she has hid from her parents for the moment and she doesn’t get along with her soon to be ex-husband’s girlfriend (it goes both ways with these two women!). So when Blake’s girlfriend, Shazia, is found dead and Sitara is the main suspect, she has to work with Shazia to uncover the truth.
The best part of this story are the other 3 ghostly characters who Sitara meets. They are amazing and fun, making her journey of learning to be a psychic enjoyable in my opinion. I love her camaraderie with them and with her best friend Winnie. The entire story is fast-paced with a focus is on solving the murder and proving that Sitara is innocent. However, the author brings in smaller sequences that set the tone for upcoming books. The back-story is set and the characters are introduced. It is so easy to fall in love with them.
This book reminded me of reading Meg Cabot’s paranormal series as well as books like Lockwood and Co. by Jonathan Stroud. There is friendship, budding romance, paranormal elements and enough light-heartedness to keep the readers hooked! I am definitely looking forwards to reading more about Sitara and her ghostly friends’ adventures!
About the Book:

Autumn is a time of snuggly sweaters, crisp breezes, and…. sexy, broody werewolves?
When I inherit a magical house in the beautiful seaside village of Charming Cove, it’s just what I need to turn my dismal life around. Fresh off a bad breakup and with magic that I’ve ignored for a decade, I’m ready to rekindle my inner witch.
The catch? The house is inhabitable until I renovate it, and the only place to live is with a brooding, rugged boat-builder who definitely doesn’t want me in his space. Though there’s no denying the electric spark between us, neither of us is willing to act on it.
To make things more complicated, I have to renovate the house in thirty days or I’ll lose it. But the house hates anyone who enters it and attacks with loose floorboards and horrific odors. I can’t get a single contractor in Charming Cove to help me out.
That leaves only one option—convince my new roommate to help me until I can untangle the mystery of why my new home is so moody. It’ll mean spending every day with the sexy, infuriating werewolf, but I’ll do whatever it takes to make my dreams a reality.
Romance Rules for Werewolves is a fun, frothy romantic comedy full of laughter, love, and magical hijinks. It’s the third in a series of stand alone romances set in the seaside village of Charming Cove and the books do not need to be read in order.

Author Bio:

Before becoming a writer, Linsey was an archaeologist who studied shipwrecks in all kinds of water, from the tropics to muddy rivers (and she has a distinct preference for one over the other). After a decade of tromping around in search of old bits of stuff, she settled down to start penning her own adventure novels and is freaking delighted that people seem to like them. Since life is better with a little (or a lot of) magic, she writes urban fantasy and paranormal romance.

My Thoughts:
This is another Charming Cove romance that I just fell in love with. The story follows Isobel as she tries to fix up her late grandmother’s house within 30 days as stipulated in her will. If she does not succeed, she doesn’t inherit the house. However, this is not as easy as it sounds since the house is enchanted and seems to have a mind of its own.
As Isobel navigates the enchanted house as well as a moody werewolf roommate who is living in the boathouse, we see a lot of ups and downs, many hilarious moments with the house and a whole lot of fun and love! A budding romance, Isobel coming into her own with her magic and the whole town coming together once again to help are all part of this lovely plot.
I truly enjoyed reading this book and the banter between Isobel and Rafe as they get to know one another is the best part of the story. As Isobel unravels the mystery of Rafe’s past, we also get to know more about him and the curse on him. I absolutely adored Isobel’s familiar and the Lavender House is definitely a hero in my opinion!
This is a wonderful cozy romance with magical moments and so many fun tropes including enemies-lovers, forced proximity with a charming set of characters who all come together and prove to us that Charming Cove is indeed a warm and wonderful place to live in. There is a feeling of togetherness and family among all the magical folk that just tugs at the heart-strings and makes for a very happy and light read!
About the Book:

It’s been six months since Alex and Gabriella stood against The Sorrow and won. The Veil still stands uncrossed, and with every passing day the possibility of finding the person stolen from Alex alive diminishes. But after an influx of new Awakenings, the Alliance is being stretched to breaking point. Meanwhile the looming threat of a new, stronger SOS hides in the shadows.
But that is the least of Alex’s worries.
Something is growing inside of him. Something dark and vengeful that whispers in the silence. Something that plagues his dreams with visions of a horrifying apocalypse.
An apocalypse he will start.
As Gabriella struggles to hold everything together and Alex struggles not to fall apart, one thing becomes clear. Before they can cross the Veil and stand against Hades, Alex must first defeat his greatest enemy. Himself.
DILECTI SURGEMUS – SOCII POLLEMUS
(Chosen we rise – Allied we prevail)
My Thoughts:
The Corruption is the second book in the Hasea Chronicles and picks up six months after where the first book ends. This book is much more fast-paced and filled with suspense that will keep the reader hooked until the very end. The author has done an amazing job with world building and I absolutely love his style of writing, especially with the alternating points of view between Gabriella and Alex. This helps to provide their different perspectives as well as the story through each of their eyes. The opinions of the characters and how they view each event as well as how they take decisions are brought out through this.
This story focuses on the internal battles of the characters and while we are in a fantasy realm, the internal struggle to find one’s identity is something that we can all relate to. Alex, having defeated The Shadow now faces an internal struggle of good vs. evil as he tries to reconcile his darker side with the righteous one. I believe that the author handled this very well and even though it spans many chapters, the story telling makes it all worth the read!
This book has much more action and a strong focus on characters while giving the reader a sense of the developing world. Despite the introduction of many new characters, the author does each of them justice and I think they have enough space in the plot to carry it forward. At each stage, the reader is taken along on a journey that is darker than the first but with some light at the end of the tunnel.
Having read both books 1 and 2, I admit that I am a big fan of the Hasea Chronicles and am looking forward to entering The Veil along with Alex and Gabriella as well as all the others who join them in their quest.
About the Book:

Gemma inherited more than she can handle thanks to the hot inhabitants of her hotel . . .
When Gemma Fox inherits the storied Reynard Hotel from her great-aunt, she’s totally unprepared for the responsibility. It’s not the bills or the renovations or the repairs piling up. Or her family’s complete lack of confidence in her ability to manage the hotel. It’s that she’s not alone.
Bound to the hotel are two spirits, Archer and Soren Hyde. Brooding, handsome, immortal—they’ve been haunting the Reynard for generations. And Gemma is now their custodian.
As Gemma fights to keep the hotel from going under, she also finds herself fighting a growing attraction to the brothers. Each offers her something different: Archer is impish, fun, sexy, and just the distraction she needs. Soren’s arrogant, passionate, sinfully attractive, and driving her crazy. In turn, they each want something from her—one wants freedom, the other wants her heart.
It turns out that Archer and Soren are holding back a secret that might finally see them no longer spellbound. And when the truth comes out about who—and what—they are, their imperfect triangle shatters. With her life and her happiness on the line, and pressure mounting on all sides, Gemma is forced to make a decision that could change everything—for eternity.
My Thoughts:
I usually enjoy fantasy fiction and when you throw in the paranormal aspect, it gets fun. Spellbound was one such book that I truly enjoyed. I am not one to read books with ghosts or spirits in them but, this book had me hooked. The mystery surrounding the Reynard hotel drew me in and I fell in love with the setting, description and even the characters.
The story follows Gemma who inherits the Reynard hotel from her great-aunt. This makes her even more unpopular among her family members some of whom think they were cheated out of the inheritance and money. Gemma is given a time frame to be able to run the place and prove that she is capable of the task set in front of her, while most of the family deem her unfit for the responsibility. Little does anyone know that running the Reynard is the least of anyone’s worry. The secret to the hotel lies in its unexpected inhabitants who are bound to the place and who had a very special connection with Gemma’s great-aunt making them her responsibility now.
I adored the characters of Soren and Archer. The two are very different and yet have an interesting connection to the hotel and develop a connection with Gemma. As she navigates a complicated love triangle, managing the hotel, family members who want to see her fail, we meet a whole lot of characters (including Larry, Skye, Raven and many more) whom we either love or hate. The authors have done a wonderful job in describing each character and give them enough space in the plot to ensure that the reader is familiar with them.
The twists at the end and the decisions Gemma faces make the story and mystery of the place that much more interesting. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and recommend it for all fans of the genre. Even those who do not normally read paranormal fantasy can pick up this book and enjoy the story!
My Thoughts:
Fall of the Harvest Moon is the final book in the New World Shifters series by authors Nina Walker and Kimberly Loth. This book picks up where the last one left off and takes us on a fast paced journey towards the conclusion.
We follow Poppy as she navigates becoming a Lycan and deals with the after effects of having killed The King and biting Rhys. So many questions were left unanswered at the end of Book 3 with the clarification and conclusion coming to light in this book. Poppy starts to take control and stand up for herself and the other girls. Rhys is confused and trying to come to terms with a lot of things as well as handle being the alpha. There is also a bigger focus on the romance between the characters and an interesting twist to this equation.
The authors have done a great job in bringing the story together and tying up all loose ends. As a reader, we come away satisfied with the story and the characters and how they end up. This story is fast paced and we see much more action than in the others. In addition to this, we also see a lot of the characters grow into their own and take control of their lives. It is indeed a beautiful journey of four books that the readers will take with these characters whom they will grow to love or hate. But, it is all worth it in the end.
This is a world where werewolves, lycans and other shapeshifters come together and hopefully, eventually live in harmony with the humans. A truly wonderful conclusion to the series, I highly recommend this series and of course this book (if you have read the rest) to all fans of books in the genres of paranormal romance.
About the Book:
“Fire wasn’t exactly the intended outcome of a water spell, but with me, sadly inevitable.”
Phoebe’s new life as a mage hasn’t had an auspicious start. No matter how hard she tries, her spells fail spectacularly. How is she to impress her boss, Archibald Kane, if she keeps setting her hair on fire?
Her problems with magic become trivial when a night out ends with a dead body. The victim has clearly been killed by a vampire, and the evidence points at Phoebe’s housemate Luca.
The leader of London vampires, Morgan Hunt, is convinced Luca is guilty. To prove his innocence, Phoebe and Luca set out to solve the death. Was the victim random, or has an old enemy of Hunt’s returned? And how are they to find the killer when Hunt has done his best to hide his past?
Phoebe is an expert in unearthing old things, but facing a powerful foe would be easier, if she had a hang of her spellcasting too. Luckily she has magical friends she can count on. And maybe the third spell turns out to be the charm after all.
My Thoughts:
Third Spell’s the Charm is the third book in the series which follows Phoebe and her friends on another magic filled adventure. Following the end of the previous book, Phoebe has now discovered her powers and is trying to learn how to perform some basic spells. However her luck is not so great and things go horribly wrong to the extent that a water spell gives out fire instead. This just adds to the hilarity of the situation making it light hearted and fun to read. With a focus on learning to be a spell caster at a much later age than most, Phoebe is having a difficult time keeping up.
As the story progresses, the focus shifts towards the vampires and Phoebe’s attempt to help her friend and housemate Luca who is accused of killing someone. As Phoebe and her friends come together to solve the mystery, they end up in the most unexpected situations. The main recurring theme of the story is on the strength of the friendship the characters share and the faith they have in one another. There is also the element of mystery and anticipation of things to come that are hidden behind the comedy. Since this is a continuation of the series, it was a pleasure to read about the characters and how they grow through each of the books. Though the plot is a predictable in some places, the story overall is well written and makes for a good read!
This is a quick fun filled read which will have the reader in splits half the time even while there is a mystery to solve! This book and the series is definitely worth a try!
